About

I'm currently working on Writing Commons, http://writingcommons.com, an OER (Open Educational Resource). Writing Commons aspires to be a community for writers, a creative learning space for students in courses that require college-level writing, a creative, interactive space for teachers to share resources and pedagogy.

Other current projects include My Reviewers, http://myreviewers.usf.edu, a web-based workspace for teachers to markup texts, facilitate and grade peer reviews, and assess student writing.

I've written on a variety of topics, including qualitative research methodologies, electronic theses and dissertations, learning communities, and scholarly publishing. My current scholarship focuses on courseware development, datagogies, and the effects of commons-based peer production on agency, assessment and writing program administration.  My most recent book, Agency in the Age of Peer Production, is in press for the Studies in Writing and Rhetoric Series sponsored by NCTE.  It's a collaborative, coauthored qualitative research study of our first-year composition community that examines what inspires (and what doesn't inspire!) faculty to participate in our gift culture, our datagogy.

I enjoy coaching writers--and I've worked with a range of writers, from medical to law to engineering faculty.  I have served as a writing coach for faculty at a variety of universities, including Wake Forest University, Virginia Commonwealth University, Thunderbird, The American Graduate School of International Management (see http://scholarspublish.com for details).
